Expanding a holistic health app

Company: The Understanding Group

Role: UX Designer/Information Architect

Timeline: November 2020 - August 2021

With the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic, Seity Health urgently needed help providing the full program digitally, from visual atoms to a full integrated app.

Building a foundation

The first phase after the TUG consulting team began working side by side with the Seity Health team was to develop a structural foundation. I started with conducting comparative and qualitative research to fill out our understanding of the landscape. This included 21 exploratory interviews with current app users to understand needs, permissions levels, and data paths.. Based on these insights, I developed user stories, structural design models and wireframes that, in turn, were the basis for writing user stories for implementation.

Launching a holistic experience

These user stories helped build out a structural prototype tested with users to verify the initial MVP proposal. After this verification, I worked on developing an accessibility guide to be used as developing the app.

An integral piece of the product were notifications to guide users through creating habits that helped them build realistic goals. By modeling out current state of notifications to show the choreography of notifications, including service models surfacing frontend and backend connections to delivery models for push, in-situ and in app notifications. For longer term guidance, I incorporated OS best practices to define content, action, and tone to create the notifications handbook. Our client hailed this work as a "masterclass in information architecture design."
